Italy – Val Di Fiemme – Ski Resort In Alps

Val di Fiemme – The Valley of Flames – is the most popular ski resort in Italian Alps.

Val di Fiemme is located in Trento – Upper Adyga region, about 40 km east of Bolzano and 60 km north-east of Trento. Valley has a length of 35 km. The main towns are : Cavalese and Predazzo.  Also few of the smaller towns are worth to mention: Molina, Carano, Tesero, Ziano. Valley has 3 well – known ski resorts : Obereggen / Ski Center Latemar, Alpe Cermis (Cavalese) and Alpe Lusia (Bellamonte). In total you will find about 140 km of slopes, inc. 39% – easy, 43% – medium, 18% – difficult routes.  Almost all ski slopes have a system of artificial snow machines, which guarantee a true white paradise for alpine skiers and snowboarders.

Val di Fiemme is well – known also as a cradle of cross country skiing:

  1. Cross country skiing resort Lago di Tesero offers more than 18 km of routes (snow guarantee). In 1991 and 2003, Lago di Tesero was a place of Winter Sports World Championship. The resort will organize the next championship in 2013.
  2. Passo Lavaze – Cross Country Skiing Center –  has 80 km of routes that meet the requirements of all skiers, prepared by the group of professional technicians.

The Valley is word-famous because of the International Cross Country Skiing Event organized here every year. Marcialonga route – 70 km: Moena – Canazei – Moena – Molina  – Cavalese. The next – 37th Marcialonga di Fiemme e Fassa marathon – will start on 31st of January 2010 on Sunday at 8.00 am in Moena.

The Valley has also one Ski Jumping Resort in Predazzo (Stalimen).

The biggest city and the center of the region is  Cavalese, very pleasing alpine town with around 3600 inhabitants. Except the slopes, town offers a range of sport, cultural and social activities.
