Vacations in Darjeelinh by My Family Escapes

I visited Darjeeling in 12 of Jan-2015 with my family. We went to NJP by train. The railway journey was rather tiresome. From NJP we went to Darjeeling by private taxis. we reach the hotel.

This is a very nice place to stay We spent two nights at the Mayfair Hotel – one before and one after a 5 night trek in the Singalila National Park. Every cottage is built in traditional style with bamboo with wall to wall carpets. In Darjeeling there are many tourist places & attractions including the parks & gardens, science places & view points, waterfalls, temples & monasteries, museums & historic places, & lot more.

Himalayan mountaineering institute (HMI) and the amazing Darjeeling zoo is one of the best destination. The zoo is located in the same premises where Hmi is & we can covered at the same time. Another is tiger hill is best known for the dazzling sunrise view of the Kanchenjunga & the snow covered peaks of the entire eastern Himalayan range. The MahakaL Temple, the central temple of Darjleeing of all faiths is located on top of the hill where the original Darjeeling Buddhist Monastery once Stood.

Next day we went to Darjeeling Mall: The Chowrasta or the Mall is the town center in Darjeeling. It has many beauty spots. Next day, after breakfast, we were crowded with tourists from different parts of the country. People were making all sorts of purchases.

After lunch we went to Rock Garden & Ganga Maya Park

These two are scenic parks in wonderful settings located a few miles away from the Darjeeling town. We enjoyed the expense of horticultural beauty around our heart’s content.

Several religious shrines in Darjeeling have been built by great religious leaders of the past, Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda Located in the Jalapahar hill, the Japanese Temple is built in traditional Japanese style where you can join the prayers and feel the spiritual peace amongst humming and chants. Close to it is the Peace Pagoda where there are four large avatars of Lord Buddha

the Mountain slopes are covered with tall, green trees which present a caring sight at sunset and look very grand. The morning and evening hours are very pleasant. A cool breeze sets up and refreshes the mind. It makes one forget the oppressive heat of the plains. Honestly, there are many other tourist attractions and sights in Darjeeling, Last day we went for half day city tour (Rimbi Falls, and Kanchendzonga falls.

I felt happy in the company of nature. The bright hued flowers, the clouds sailing across the sky and the snow covered peaks of the high mountains in the distance filled my heart with joy.

We stayed there for one week. The memory of my visit is still fresh in my mind. Check-out from hotel on time and take the departure transfers to NJP Railway Station onward journey.
